Written to survive your review.
The first person who had to accept WispBooks' output was our own accountant, working on the books of a small coffeehouse in western North Carolina. Everything auditable in this product is there because that review happened every month.
AI reads the receipt. Deterministic validators check the arithmetic, the dates, and the balance. A clean phone scan files itself; anything from the web or Gmail, and anything carrying a question, waits for the owner. Every value keeps the evidence that produced it, and every correction is recorded.
What you get
Real double-entry
A proper chart of accounts, balanced journal entries, period locks, and a trial balance that ties.
Bookkeeper as a role
Not a shared password. Review, categorize, post, and export with your own access and your own audit trail.
Evidence attached
Every entry keeps its original receipt image, its source, its confidence, and the reason it was classified that way.
One-click export
A tax-year CSV of every filed expense — date, vendor, category, account, subtotal, tax, total, purpose, and the ids tying each row back to its receipt and journal entry — with the receipt images alongside.
Rules that stick
Correct a bank line once and WispBooks offers to save it as a rule; matching transactions are then categorized on arrival, or flagged as suggestions for you to confirm.
Your judgment wins
Suggested treatment is a starting point, never a filing. Override anything, and the correction is recorded against the entry.
